Are software development certifications necessary for innovation?
Wed, 29 Jun 2022
ASSIST Software is a company focused on innovation and the latest software development trends. We work with a wide range of technologies and seek to constantly improve. Our continuous learning stands to the advantage of our international and local clients.
Understanding and exploring our clients’ needs are our priorities when accepting a partnership or a project. But what should a client look for in a software engineering company? Are testimonials and certifications good indicators of business, and do they help potential partners make their choice? Or perhaps they are more valuable to coders on the lookout for a new company?
Time spent on theory and practice should not be equal
Certifications only make up a small fraction of a company’s knowledge base. However, they absolutely shouldn’t be overlooked. Innovation and top performance cannot be achieved while lacking basic foundational knowledge. Ignoring or underestimating the value of certifications at a company and employee level would, therefore, render development processes ineffective.
At ASSIST Software, we seek to optimize how we work and learn. Certifications lead to an increase in productivity and consistency, and they provide pointers when identifying best practices. Learning through experience is also valuable, thus, we seek to balance theory and practice to suit needs, not to have unnecessary equality between the two. However, obtaining a certification will always be a step forward and considered meaningful to our team and us.
Practice makes perfect, but certifications are a nice-to-have
Seeing a company’s certifications provides an extra layer of trust. Testimonials are powerful, and we always welcome business reviews, yet clients who need to choose a company to fulfill a dream can be overwhelmed as the market displays a plethora of possibilities. Deciding whom you work with might come down to the presence of certifications. Is it compulsory? No, but it’s a definite nice-to-have.
Hands-on experience can lead to proficiency and innovation in a particular field, however, this does not automatically exclude theory in favour of practice, especially since everybody has their own learning style. Moreover, it is sometimes essential to comprehend how a specific technology works to use it fully to your benefit.
Certifications are for companies as well as employees
At a company level, ASSIST Software is certified and recognized by industry players such as Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, Adobe, Drupal, MondoDB, Fujitsu, ISTQB, and others. You can view the complete list here.
However, our employee certifications are tremendously important as they represent the shared desire to grow. We congratulate our specialists for the certifications that they have worked hard to obtain.
