On June 9th and 10th, 2025, the Self-SDG consortium gathered one last time in Bratislava, Slovakia, for an important milestone in the project’s journey. Hosted by BPI, our Slovak partner, this meeting was designed to enable partners to review the project’s implementation progress, align on final tasks, and coordinate dissemination and sustainability strategies as the project nears its conclusion.

Unlocking Sustainable Change: The Self-SDG Mobile App

The Self-SDG project aims to enhance commitment to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), raise awareness of today’s sustainability challenges, and help prepare future generations for a more responsible and sustainable future. Through the Self-SDG Mobile App, the project empowers educators and young people to adopt sustainable behaviors and actively contribute to the achievement of the 17 SDGs. The screenshots below offer just a glimpse of what the Self-SDG Mobile App has to offer – the download links for Google Play and the App Store will be available soon.

Early Reactions for Self-SDG App

Over the past few months, ASSIST Software has worked consistently to finalize the app, ensuring that all functionalities are fully in place. The content is now complete in all project languages, and translations have been successfully integrated, setting the stage for this next critical phase: real-time testing with end users.

The Bratislava meeting offered the perfect opportunity to launch the piloting phase. In parallel with the project meeting, we participated in the first Self-SDG multiplier event, skilfully organized by BPI. This event provided a valuable setting to carry out the initial piloting session and gather immediate feedback from participants, with all consortium partners present to gain first-hand insights into public reception of our project result and validate the project’s vision.

Participants from diverse backgrounds — including educators, youth representatives, and civil society members — engaged with the app and expressed enthusiasm about its user-friendly design and the relevance of its content to real-world sustainable development challenges.

This successful piloting session not only confirmed the app’s potential to serve as an effective educational tool but also strengthened our consortium’s motivation to continue refining and promoting the Self-SDG App across the participating countries.

The first Self-SDG Multiplier event

Both the Self-SDG partners’ meeting and multiplier event took place at LAMPY, culture & club & coffee in Bratislava — a vibrant cultural café located in the heart of Petržalka. Known for its creative atmosphere and multifunctional spaces, LAMPY was the perfect venue to host the event. With its blend of modern facilities and community-oriented spirit, it provided an inspiring setting to explore themes related to sustainability, education, and social engagement.

Unlike traditional project presentations, the Self-SDG multiplier event in Bratislava was designed as an engaging and interactive experience that introduced the audience to the world of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Rather than simply informing participants about the project objective, the event invited them to explore core sustainability themes — such as responsible consumption, climate action, and quality education — through workshops, discussions, hands-on activities, and creative sessions. This dynamic format made the SDGs accessible and relevant, while also creating space for meaningful reflection and dialogue.

The day concluded with an engaging evening discussion on education for sustainability, featuring guest speakers — specialists in education — who reflected on the potential of the Self-SDG app in their work and addressed key challenges and barriers to embedding sustainability in mainstream education.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is ASSIST Software's development process?

The Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) we employ defines the following stages for a software project. Our SDLC phases include planning, requirement gathering, product design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

2. What software development methodology does ASSIST Software use?

ASSIST Software primarily leverages Agile principles for flexibility and adaptability. This means we break down projects into smaller, manageable sprints, allowing continuous feedback and iteration throughout the development cycle. We also incorporate elements from other methodologies to increase efficiency as needed. For example, we use Scrum for project roles and collaboration, and Kanban boards to see workflow and manage tasks. As per the Waterfall approach, we emphasize precise planning and documentation during the initial stages.

3. I'm considering a custom application. Should I focus on a desktop, mobile or web app?

We can offer software consultancy services to determine the type of software you need based on your specific requirements. Please explore what type of app development would suit your custom build product.

  • A web application runs on a web browser and is accessible from any device with an internet connection. (e.g., online store, social media platform)
  • Mobile app developers design applications mainly for smartphones and tablets, such as games and productivity tools. However, they can be extended to other devices, such as smartwatches.
  • Desktop applications are installed directly on a computer (e.g., photo editing software, word processors).
  • Enterprise software manages complex business functions within an organization (e.g., Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)).

4. My software product is complex. Are you familiar with the Scaled Agile methodology?

We have been in the software engineering industry for 30 years. During this time, we have worked on bespoke software that needed creative thinking, innovation, and customized solutions.

Scaled Agile refers to frameworks and practices that help large organizations adopt Agile methodologies. Traditional Agile is designed for small, self-organizing teams. Scaled Agile addresses the challenges of implementing Agile across multiple teams working on complex projects.

SAFe provides a structured approach for aligning teams, coordinating work, and delivering value at scale. It focuses on collaboration, communication, and continuous delivery for optimal custom software development services.

5. How do I choose the best collaboration model with ASSIST Software?

We offer flexible models. Think about your project and see which models would be right for you.

  • Dedicated Team: Ideal for complex, long-term projects requiring high continuity and collaboration.
  • Team Augmentation: Perfect for short-term projects or existing teams needing additional expertise.
  • Project-Based Model: Best for well-defined projects with clear deliverables and a fixed budget.

Contact us to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each model.
