The biggest software engineering events of 2022 at ASSIST Software
In 30 years in the IT market, ASSIST Software's focus has always been development. Whether it was software development or professional and personal development at an employee level, ASSIST Software, a Suceava-based company, has always strived to find solutions for the future.
Software and technology can do more than become powerful tools to carve humanity's future. Using apps and new hardware aids in resolving long-standing challenges.
Always thinking about what comes next has helped ASSIST Software grow from a three-person business founded in 1992 to the great 300-plus team it is today.
This team proves that Romanian software developers can take on gigantic tasks for international clients while keeping standards just as high as any other company from abroad would.
Looking back at ASSIST Software’s accomplishments of 2022, it's impossible to go into detail about all of them, so let’s look at some of the highlights.

ASSIST Software celebrated 30 years of innovation and technology
It’s not common for Romanian software companies to be able to achieve what ASSIST Software has managed to achieve in 30 years in the industry. ASSIST has continued to ascend further in the market over the years and has thoroughly established itself as a key player in the region.
The ASSIST Software timeline started in 1992 with "more dreams rather than money," said co-CEO Gheorghe David in an anniversary speech. Today, more than 300 employees work to fulfill the dreams of partner companies who trust the ASSIST Software development and management teams.
With great reviews on many business ranking platforms and the company's website, 93% of our clients return and continue working with us for their ongoing or new projects.
However, there is more to why in 2022, we deemed software engineers superheroes. Being a developer means more than writing good code. By working together, we can overcome seemingly impossible challenges.

Open Doors ASSIST returned to the halls of USV
ASSIST Software and the Stefan cel Mare University of Suceava continued collaborating and organizing joint events in 2022. The ASSIST Software team was able to return to the halls of the university and talk directly to the students about their future careers and the newest technology trends.
We went back to USV on two occasions. In May, we were there for a technology job fair along with multiple other companies, and we were blown away by the incredibly positive response to our presence at the event. Our stand was so successful that dozens of internship applications were filled out on-site.
This welcoming reaction assured us that organizing the 2022 Open Doors ASSIST edition offline was a good idea. As such, we returned to USV in November and met with hundreds of students to discuss their aspirations, abilities, and future careers. Once again, we were happy to receive an impressive number of internship applications.
Seeing students face to face again after organizing the event online for two consecutive years was without question the month's highlight, as students are undoubtedly the future of technology and innovation.

Best Innovative Minds was better than ever
Speaking of innovation, the Best Innovative Minds or BIM competition has seen great ideas from ASSIST Software employees this year. What made this edition even more interesting to observe was the determination of our participants to create apps tailored to solve specific day-to-day challenges and improve the quality of life of many communities.
As our VP of Innovation, Gabriel Tironeac, noted during the end-of-contest speech, he was pleasantly surprised to see all the teams focusing on user experience and how their project benefits its target audience rather than using newer technologies just for the sake of proving their skills.
BIM remains one of the biggest ASSIST Software challenges, where everybody is encouraged to think outside the box, look inward for inspiration, lead, and grow. All participants said the 2022 BIM edition helped them progress personally and professionally and that BIM is the type of software competition they highly recommend to all those with a true passion for this domain.

ASSIST Tech Challenge 2022 – another great competition
At ASSIST Software, we have much to learn from each other. Fresh ideas and new viewpoints sometimes come from the most unexpected places. That is why another ASSIST Software highlight is the ASSIST Tech Challenge competition.
In 2022, the interest in this student contest remained high, while our judges were pleasantly surprised to see even better-coordinated teams than before. Prizes and diplomas aside, ASSIST Tech Challenge is the perfect place where students can test their skills. Participants must demonstrate organizational skills and the ability to work well with others. Even though there is a theme to follow, there is still room for creativity. Mentors and coordinators are always available to help further the project, especially if the team is stuck.
In 2023, ASSIST Software will organize this student competition again. Students can already sign up on the software competition's event page.

ASSIST Masterclasses – for those who want to enhance their skills
A premiere for ASSIST Software in 2022 was the launch of ASSIST Masterclasses – a series of courses held offline in Suceava.
As the name suggests, the masterclasses were intensive courses that we put together for specialists who wanted to develop their Java or QA skills with trainers ready to explain and share their knowledge. We had the pleasure of having a Java champion, Vlad Mihalcea, and an exceptionally skilled QA team - Nicoleta Cioată, Diana Bărculescu, and Emy Iacob - teaching these courses.
Since the events were so well received by the participants, we’ve decided to continue organizing this event in 2023 with two new technologies: JavaScript and C#. More details regarding the 2023 ASSIST Masterclasses will be announced on our website and social media.

Fundatia Umanitara ASSIST showed us we can change lives
Helping the local community has always been one of ASSIST Software's priorities. In 30 years, ASSIST Software has actively supported education and children in various ways. We have donated computers, software, teaching materials, books, and bicycles to help underprivileged children. We have also donated blood and medical equipment and sponsored other humanitarian events.
However, in 2022, we became even more involved in such activities and founded the ASSIST Humanitarian Foundation (Fundatia Umanitara ASSIST). This allowed us to directly help refugees and schools. But one of the most significant donations of 2022 went to the Pediatric Ward of the Sf. Ioan cel Nou de la Suceava municipal hospital.
Together with members of the local community, Novaoptic, and volunteers, and by the grace of the Saint Nepomuk Catholic Church from Suceava, we organized a charity carol concert. The internationally awarded Ciprian Porumbescu Choir brought the audience into the Christmas spirit, delighting them with their renditions of well-known Christmas carols. Through this event, we raised 75,000 lei for much-needed medical equipment for the Pediatric Ward.
Looking back at 2022, our main takeaway is about coming together. We achieved so much because we believed in each other's ideas and abilities. Our tight-knit community of programmers and specialists has done more than work together.
- We played sports together.
- We hiked up mountains together.
- We went to the sea together.
- We went to the movies together.
- We went to conferences together.
- We partied together.
- We played games together.
- We studied together.
- We celebrated together.
Now, we are excited to see what 2023 could bring. We are curious to discover this year's MVP and we hope to take on as many exciting projects as possible. Be sure to follow us for more information about our activities, and if you stumble upon our 2022 viral Tik Tok video, be sure to give it a like.
