TwinShip Project Makes Waves at Local AI Event
Artificial intelligence and Digital Twin technologies are at the heart of the TwinShip project, a cutting‑edge Horizon Europe initiative aimed at transforming the maritime sector through advanced digitalization and intelligent decision support.
By developing an open‑source, data‑driven platform enriched with machine learning and AI capabilities, TwinShip supports real‑time simulation, performance optimization, and strategic decision‑making to help shipping operations become safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible.
Through this digital twin‑enabled Decision Support System, the project sets ambitious targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions in international shipping and accelerating the transition toward zero‑emission vessels.

During this year’s Open Doors ASSIST 2025 event held at the University of Suceava on November 5th, our team proudly showcased TwinShip to students, tech enthusiasts, and industry visitors, highlighting its vision and impact on the future of maritime technologies. Our colleagues demonstrated how advanced simulation, predictive analytics, and real-time data integration can transform vessel performance, reduce risks, and contribute to more sustainable maritime transport.
Engaging with the next generation of innovators allowed us to raise awareness of the project’s goals and spark curiosity around the technologies built within TwinShip. We are excited to continue contributing to research and innovation in the maritime sector and to share our progress with broader communities.
We remind you that TwinShip – Integrated Digital TWIN Framework to enable Green SHIP – is a project funded under Horizon Europe - HORIZON-CL5-2024-D5-01-15: Advanced digitalization and modelling utilizing operational and other data to support zero emission waterborne transport, with Grant Agreement ID number 101192583.
