3rd VALUMICS Horizon 2020 Project Meeting in Ireland

Between the 11th and 13th of June 2018 took place the 3rd VALUMICS Horizon 2020 Project Meeting at the UCD Smurfit School Campus in Dublin, Ireland.
The VALUMICS team agreed that the main aim of the modeling work will be to address issues related to fairness in the functioning of European food chains. Moreover, they also agreed to pay equal attention to farmers and the other actors of the chains and to include the “voiceless” consumer perspective.
Other topics discussed:
- UCD and ASSIST Software (WP7) agreed to research three agent-based modeling tools: Mesa (Python), Jade (Java), Repast (Java) so, when the WP7 will start we’ll have the proper software tools and methodologies in place.
- WP3 Deliverable 3.3 : Characterisation framework report that classifies key regulatory and policy impacts upon food value chains.
The overall objective of the VALUMICS Horizon 2020 project is to provide decision-makers throughout food value chains with a comprehensive suite of approaches and tools that will enable them to evaluate the impact of strategic and operational policies to enhance the resilience, integrity, and sustainability of food value chains for European countries.
The Valumics project is co-funded by the Horizon 2020 program of the European Union and submitted under the H2020-SFS-2016-2017 Innovation Action call, under topic SFS-33-2016 with project ID 727243-2.
