SECASSURED

SECASSURED is a Horizon Europe research and innovation initiative that addresses the growing complexity of digital systems. These systems are increasingly built using a combination of commercial tools, open-source libraries, third-party components, and AI technologies. In this context, ensuring system security becomes a significant challenge, particularly when the components involved function as “black boxes” with limited transparency.

The SECASSURED project aims to significantly improve hardware and software security engineering, enhance access to testing in secure environments, and foster the development of trustworthy and certifiable systems. By leveraging cutting-edge AI technologies and digital twins, SECASSURED will provide comprehensive, continuous security assurance across the IoT-edge-cloud continuum, benefiting diverse stakeholders including manufacturers, software vendors, system integrators, service operators, security service providers, and compliance authorities.

The project brings together 19 leading researchers, industry partners, and public stakeholders from 10 countries, aiming to develop an assurance-driven framework supported by a holistic toolbox of AI-based security services. The goal is to enhance the security and trustworthiness of software and hardware systems throughout their lifecycle, focusing on the following key areas:
•    Cybersecurity and regulatory risk identification during the integration of diverse components, including third-party, open-source, and commercial solutions.
•    Automated assessment of system components — including those based on AI — within secure, virtual environments that facilitate testing and integration.
•    Continuous assurance-driven engineering enabled by innovative, AI-powered tools that support secure system development and maintenance.

•    Businesses involved in cybersecurity, software development, and consultancy

ASSIST Software’s Role

ASSIST Software plays a pivotal role in the SECASSURED project by leading the implementation of continuous integration (CI) environments and practices that underpin the project’s security services catalogue. This includes setting up robust pipelines for testing, validation, and deployment of the AI-powered security tools developed within the project.

By integrating CI workflows into the assurance framework, ASSIST ensures that all system updates, from patches to new features, are continuously evaluated for security compliance. This approach not only strengthens the overall security posture of project outcomes but also enables rapid and safe innovation within secure environments.
