Artificial IntelligenceDigital AssistantsLarge Language ModelsRisk AnalysisIncident DetectionCyber OperationsLLM4CIP is a Digital Europe project focused on strengthening cybersecurity preparedness for Europe’s critical infrastructure sectors. As cyber threats grow in scale and sophistication, many essential service operators face increasing pressure to protect complex systems with limited in-house cybersecurity expertise. LLM4CIP addresses this challenge by introducing an AI-driven approach that makes advanced cybersecurity capabilities more accessible, actionable, and effective.
The project develops an LLM-powered platform designed to support critical infrastructure operators in detecting, understanding, and mitigating cyber risks across their operational environments. By combining large language models with domain-specific cybersecurity knowledge, the platform assists organisations throughout the incident lifecycle, from early warning and risk assessment to response coordination and post-incident analysis.
Unlike traditional security solutions that rely heavily on specialist intervention and complex tooling, LLM4CIP focuses on simplifying decision-making and improving situational awareness. The solution enables operators to interact with cybersecurity insights in a more intuitive way, supporting proactive risk mitigation and resilience building, even in resource-constrained contexts.
Over its 36-month duration, the project brings together technology providers, research organisations, and European industry representatives to design, implement, and validate a scalable cybersecurity framework tailored to the needs of critical infrastructure operators.
TARGET GROUPS
• Operators of EU critical infrastructure in sectors such as energy, transport, healthcare, digital infrastructure, banking, and public administration
• Organisations responsible for the protection of essential services and operational technology environments
• Cybersecurity teams and IT professionals involved in risk management, incident response, and operational resilience
• Public and private entities seeking to improve cybersecurity preparedness without extensive specialist resources
ASSIST SOFTWARE’S ROLE
ASSIST Software acts as the technical and software engineering partner in the LLM4CIP project, with a primary focus on the digital twin component of the platform. In this role, ASSIST is responsible for designing the overall system architecture and developing the core software platforms that support AI-driven cybersecurity capabilities.
The team integrates large language models and AI components into secure, scalable infrastructures, ensuring alignment with cybersecurity best practices and GDPR requirements. ASSIST Software also supports deployment, maintenance, and exploitation activities, contributing to the long-term sustainability and real-world applicability of the project’s outcomes.
Through its involvement, ASSIST helps translate advanced research concepts into robust, production-ready solutions that enhance cybersecurity resilience for critical infrastructure operators across Europe.
