We are excited to announce a significant update and revamp of the Real-Time Weather Plugin - a tool designed to help developers simulate a complete environment system, launched last year by ASSIST Software’s Gaming and Simulations department.

Since 2021, the plugin has been available on the Unity Asset Store and has saved users a significant amount of time on their projects. Our team decided that it was time to make some changes that would improve the experience even further.

The reviews and recommendations we’ve received flatter us, especially when we read that this Unity tool left a highly positive mark on our customers. First and foremost, our goal is to provide a quality product. Therefore, the new version of the Real-Time Weather plugin has been updated to fit current demands.

What did it do for others, and what can it do for you?

Saved us 1 month in development time

We are working on a parachuting simulator. This plugin saved us at least 2 person months of work. We really like that it does what it says; it simulates real weather situations within any location you choose by either city name or geolocation coordinates.

Do you need a tool to save time?

The Real-Time Weather plugin is an excellent time-saver, but it also prides itself on being straightforward, easy to set up, and compatible with other assets. We want you to enjoy working with this weather asset, which is why we offer our full support if you encounter challenges or issues.

Our environment Unity tool has built-in functionality for simulating scenes with top-rated assets such as the Tenkoku – Dynamic Sky and the Enviro – Sky and Weather plugins.

Do you use the Expanse plugin?

We’ve added support for the Expanse plugin, a tool used to create realistic skies and clouds in Unity projects. With the Real-Time Weather plugin, users can easily create a dynamic simulation of weather conditions at the desired location.

Do you need more guidance?

Hearing from you is widely important! We’ve added a “Help” section in the Unity menu top bar, which enables easier access to our new tutorials, feedback form, and bug reporter tool. Just getting started with the Real-Time Weather plugin? Our new video tutorials will help you understand the extension better, set up a scene, and set the simulation parameters.

Do we have updates?

Of course, we do. In the Unity Asset Store, the Real-Time Weather plugin also got minor quality improvements, such as a change in the number of controls and easier access to the weather provider settings. Furthermore, we added more relevant messages (warnings and errors) to the Info Panel, thus, making it easier for the user to solve potential issues.

"This asset delivers exactly what it promises to. It transformed my game looks just as I needed. If you ever think of purchasing it, you won't regret it. The publisher's responsiveness is what I like about this product the most. Great work!" - Deydreanna

Our new Real-Time Weather Tool’s version comes with an exciting new logo.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. What is ASSIST Software's development process?

The Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) we employ defines the following stages for a software project. Our SDLC phases include planning, requirement gathering, product design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

2. What software development methodology does ASSIST Software use?

ASSIST Software primarily leverages Agile principles for flexibility and adaptability. This means we break down projects into smaller, manageable sprints, allowing continuous feedback and iteration throughout the development cycle. We also incorporate elements from other methodologies to increase efficiency as needed. For example, we use Scrum for project roles and collaboration, and Kanban boards to see workflow and manage tasks. As per the Waterfall approach, we emphasize precise planning and documentation during the initial stages.

3. I'm considering a custom application. Should I focus on a desktop, mobile or web app?

We can offer software consultancy services to determine the type of software you need based on your specific requirements. Please explore what type of app development would suit your custom build product.

  • A web application runs on a web browser and is accessible from any device with an internet connection. (e.g., online store, social media platform)
  • Mobile app developers design applications mainly for smartphones and tablets, such as games and productivity tools. However, they can be extended to other devices, such as smartwatches.
  • Desktop applications are installed directly on a computer (e.g., photo editing software, word processors).
  • Enterprise software manages complex business functions within an organization (e.g., Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP)).

4. My software product is complex. Are you familiar with the Scaled Agile methodology?

We have been in the software engineering industry for 30 years. During this time, we have worked on bespoke software that needed creative thinking, innovation, and customized solutions.

Scaled Agile refers to frameworks and practices that help large organizations adopt Agile methodologies. Traditional Agile is designed for small, self-organizing teams. Scaled Agile addresses the challenges of implementing Agile across multiple teams working on complex projects.

SAFe provides a structured approach for aligning teams, coordinating work, and delivering value at scale. It focuses on collaboration, communication, and continuous delivery for optimal custom software development services.

5. How do I choose the best collaboration model with ASSIST Software?

We offer flexible models. Think about your project and see which models would be right for you.

  • Dedicated Team: Ideal for complex, long-term projects requiring high continuity and collaboration.
  • Team Augmentation: Perfect for short-term projects or existing teams needing additional expertise.
  • Project-Based Model: Best for well-defined projects with clear deliverables and a fixed budget.

Contact us to discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each model.
