Reputation management has always been a concern for companies and has traditionally been handled by public relations and communications firms, which monitored mentions of their clients and their respective brands in print and audiovisual media. As the importance of the Internet has become more apparent, most of these firms have turned to monitoring digital media as well, scouring the Internet daily for clips related to the client or the client's brand, with Google as their most powerful weapon.

The objective of the PR 2.0 project was to design an application that allows for centralized, effective management of a company and/or a brand’s reputation online combined with a powerful tool to administer proactive social media campaigns. Through the effective monitoring and management of its online reputation, an enterprise will be able to identify patterns that will result in better decision support for corporate communications agendas and unexpected consumer relations issues.
