Airwavz.tv

Airwavz.tv is a web application created to display dynamic, context-aware and timeline-based news showing what is happening in the world right now in an easy-to-use & intuitive interface. It represents a timeline with hyper-precise headline and breaking news that is free for basic functionalities, and also has a paid version with custom functionalities.

In fact, airwavz.tv is a “gaming platform” where users can scroll, pan zoom in or out, choose from a range of avatars or upload their own. Also, users can create their own “reading list” and “archive” list to keep the most important news there, always at hand.

There are two ways to display news: as a timeline or as a list of news, to match with all user’s preferences. No matter which one you’ll chose, you’ll always get the latest stories. The application provides the posibility to filter and search for news in the simplest, most easy way possible.

Furthermore, there are many options that allow users to indicate that they enjoy or they do not enjoy seeing events similar to that one, such as thumbs up, thumbs down, favorite, etc. The interface used for reading stories is crystal clear, users can see images and videos directly from the news.

From the technical point of view the platform was built using AngularJS and the back-end API was developed in NodeJS using two databases: PostgreSQL and  RethinkDB.
